Why is Bollywood Anti Hindu?
Bollywood is an anti-Hindu industry

I understand that after reading the title of this blog you feel a bit confused if you do NOT live in India. I understand, I would be also confused if I were in your place because before I moved to India in 2015, I used to watch some Indian movies produced by Bollywood and I could not realize many things and that is why if you like this film industry, I need you to read this blog, I will help you understand what you don't know yet.

First of all, I'll start at the beginning.

I have read many positive comments from Latin American and European girls who said they love Bollywood movies. For those who have no idea what Bollywood is, I tell you that it is the most well-known film industry in India but it is not the only one, other important ones are worth knowing:

  • Tollywood is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of films in the Telugu language, widely spoken in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
  • Tollywood is also called the film industry of the state of West Bengal, where the actors speak the local language which is Bengali.
  • Bhojiwood is the film industry in the Bhojpuri language, widely spoken in the state of Bihar.
  • Pahariwood refers to the cinema in Western Pahari languages, especially the Dogri language, spoken primarily in the Jammu region of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh.
  • Sandalwood is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of films in the widely spoken Kannada language in the state of Karnataka.

And there are many others.

Now you may wonder why only Bollywood movies are so well-known outside of India. Well, the issue has to do mainly with the language. Movies produced in Bollywood are spoken in Hindi and this language is spoken in Nepal, Mauritius and there is a large Indian population in the United States (about 650,000 people) as well as in Europe. In addition, these movies are also easily dubbed into English and today, they can also be found subtitled in many other languages and even dubbed into Spanish.

Another reason why Bollywood movies are known outside the country is that more than half of the actors studied, lived, or worked outside of India, mostly in America and the UK. Today they can be seen being parts of Hollywood movies like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Irrfan Khan, former Miss Universe India Aishwarya Rai, and Anil Kapoor, among many others. And many of these actors have also gone to record Indian films in other countries like Spain.

And to this, it should be noted that most Bollywood actors and actresses do not have a very good connection with their roots and Hinduism although many of them you will see posing for photos during Diwali or Holi although some of them have confessed to eating beef and calling for fireworks to be banned during Diwali while congratulating and admiring the killing of animals during festivals corresponding to Islam. Also, they are photographed holding cartels calling for justice for Muslim girls or women who have been killed by men who oh! Coincidentally, they were Hindu but when there are Hindu girls/women raped, burned with acid, etc by Muslim men (which is more common to see), they never say anything! That is very hypocritical.

So what is happening in Bollywood? Why is Bollywood said to produce anti-Hindu films? I'll tell you about it in the next section.

Bollywood Hypocrisy

Unfortunately, the production of anti-Hindu films by Bollywood is not a new problem, it is something that has been going on for many years. The issue is that those who do not live the day-to-day of certain situations in the country, do not know about the social and religious problems that arise behind these productions.

That is, foreigners do not realize certain messages that are being transmitted and cannot see beyond what is happening. I speak from experience, I did not know about many of these problems until I came to live in India and immersed myself in the world of political, social, and religious problems facing the country.

And this is where the gossip of this blog begins. If you are a fan of Bollywood, I'm sorry but you would be supporting a practically anti-nationalist industry when in reality it should be the other way around, right? It should be an industry that supports Indians of all religions in the country but that is not currently happening.

Bollywood is an industry that supports bullying Hindus and pretends to embrace Muslims. Besides, on the other hand, it is an industry that does not show the real India. You may have noticed that in all its movies the actors sing and dance (reminds me of Disney movies in that sense) and Indian women in real life don't dress like that...

Bollywood Hypocrisy

When I say that Bollywood does not show the true India, I mean that its films are very Westernized in almost every way, to the point of mocking those who practice Hinduism, Sikhism, and even Brahmins, highly respectable people within the society, except in Bollywood, leaving a negative image for the foreign public that sees it. And what results come out of it? That the foreigner thinks that laughing at Hinduism is fine or that a Brahman is a Mafioso.

Well, let's take a deeper look at why there is a big problem with Bollywood these days when it comes to anti-Hinduism so you can understand better.

1.- Bollywood Ridicules Hindu Gods

This is seen, for example, in the movie PK (2014) where you can see how the Hindu gods are ridiculed, especially Shiva. Faced with the protest of many Hindus, the creators/producers of the film explained that their desire was to question all religions and so far, that is understandable since if there is something that differentiates Hinduism from other religions, it is the ability to question, which is not seen as something negative.

But there is a difference, and that is that, while Christianity and Islam are respected, Hinduism is ridiculed, and the ridicule is highlighted in some scenes when one of the greatest Hindu gods, Shiva (a person who acts as Shiva in a nautanki, not the real Shiva, of course) is crawling under the seats of a cinema or hiding in a toilet, which has been taken as total disrespect by the citizens who follow this religion.

protest against bollywood movies

While the central character of this film questions all religions such as following religion blindly, regarding Hinduism, he questions the very existence of the Hindu Gods mockingly. Even the main god-man who ultimately torments the female character is Hindu. And you will say that it surely happens that way because that female character was Hindu, but why not put a female character who is Muslim or Christian? She didn't have to have been a Hindu. And there are many more examples.

As you well know, movies convey messages and in India, the wrong message has been conveyed that making fun of Hindu gods is okay. But then, if it's okay to mock gods, why isn't it okay to mock a Muslim god or a Christian god (in India)? Will we ever be able to have a movie that shows Allah and Jesus goofing around? I assure you that if that happens, theaters will be burned and many people will be killed.

2.- Bollywood Makes You Believe That All Religions, Except Hinduism, Are Good

Another film where Bollywood again shows the gap between Hinduism and, in this case, Islam, is the film Deewaar (2004). This movie gives a message that it will always be better to follow Islam than Hinduism since the mother of the main character is a faithful devotee of the Hindu god Shiva and the protagonist is an atheist although he wears a plate with the number 786 than in Arabic literature, there is a numerological equation in which words and letters converted to numbers give 786 as a conversion of the Arabic words Besm Allah AlRahman AlRahim, which literally means: "In the name of Allah (i.e. God) the Compassionate, the Merciful".

Deewaar movie

The protagonist in the film itself knows that it is a number with a religious meaning, and he is not interested in stopping using it even if he professes himself to be an atheist. This plate even saves him from receiving a bullet during a shootout… You know what the Muslim community said, right? Yes, you already know who saved him... However, his mother, Shiva's faithful devotee, goes through many evils and even almost dies, to the point that the protagonist visits the Shiva temple to ask him to stop punishing his mother, so this translates as Shiva being evil, punishing and uncompassionate. It also shows how Shiva has a lot of egos as the protagonist says “Khush to bohut hoge tum…” — “You must be very happy that now you have forced me to visit you and beg you.”

3.- Bollywood All the Time Makes Fun of or Puts Down Brahmins

Bollywood has been responsible for sabotaging the cultural roots of India and Hinduism. The producers of the films of this film industry always portray the Brahmins (Hindu priests) as thieves, thugs, corrupt, and I could go on. Bollywood has never shown a Brahmin to be a good person or kind to someone, it has never shown him to be compassionate towards orphans or do charitable deeds. How could this happen?

However, Bollywood is full of movies that show Christian or Muslim priests raising orphans or always being kind and giving beautiful messages of learning to the devotees in the movie and even giving their lives for them. There are many of these characters, one of them is in the movie Dhool Ka Phoo where the one in charge of raising an orphan boy is Muslim. In the movie Dost, you will see that the kind and good man is a Christian priest/father.

Shamshera is a movie labeled as "Anti-Brahmins

(Shamshera is a movie labeled as "Anti-Brahmins")

In Yaadon Ki Baraat, when the young character of Dharmendra is hungry and desolate and there is no one to help him, a Muslim boy suddenly appears and feeds him. Why couldn't a compassionate Hindu boy appear out of nowhere? Keep in mind that the visual plays a very important role in people.

Finding scenes in Bollywood movies where Hindu priests or Sadhus are shown as the “good” ones is very difficult while I could go on giving you examples where they show that other religions are the “best” according to Bollywood. You will find millions of scenes where Sadhus harass people, are disrespectful, are rapists, engage in illegal activities, etc. Bollywood has never put a Muslim rapist character in their movies, you won't find it, and if it ever existed, it's been taken off the market or something.

Also, you will see Hindus wearing tilak being thugs or criminals carrying guns, they clearly show Hindus being the villains going back to the PK movie, there you also see the Brahmin taking money from the female actress (Anushka Sharma) against her will. You will never ever see this in real life in India.

And this bad reputation created by Bollywood towards Hindus is not only seen in the cinema, it can also be seen on TV shows.

More Anti-Hindu Examples

  • Hindu characters are always called Ram, Krishna, Shiva, or any other name of a Hindu god who does nasty things.
  • A good person who helps the main character is always Muslim or Christian, never Hindu.
  • When a destitute child in a movie is adopted, he is always adopted by a pious Christian or Muslim, never by a pious Hindu.
  • If a child studies in a good school, it is always a Christian missionary school.
  • A character who speaks English fluently is polite and intelligent. A person who speaks Urdu fluently is cultured, refined, and literary. A person who speaks Hindi fluently is a comedian.
  • Subtle and derogatory comments are made towards Hindu devout characters, such as “what stupid rituals you have” or “what stupid gods you have.”
  • Show a person stealing, doing something wrong immediately after praying in front of a Hindu deity, or leaving the Hindu temple. On the other hand, a person who sings a Christian or Muslim prayer is always worthy and good.
  • They never show a Hindu doing good deeds.
  • A good message or inspiring statement reaches the protagonist only in the form of Christian or Muslim scripture, never Hindu scripture.
  • They mock Hindu gods in the name of tolerance but never apply the same standard to other religions.

The Hindus Said It’s Enough

Yes, the Hindu community said it’s enough and has decided to start taking justice into their own hands, how? Boycotting Bollywood movies. And has it had results? Yes! As Bollywood continues to mock Hindus and leading actors accept roles for such mockery, the Hindu community decided to stop going to theaters and watch their movies and instead prioritize movies from South India where they produce movies that respect the country and religion.

The proof of this boycott was seen with the bankruptcy of the film Laal Singh Chaddha with the performance of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, yes, the same actor who was questioned in the PK film. Laal Singh Chaddha is a copy of the American film Forrest Gump with Tom Hanks, which was released in August 2022 but said the release went wrong. Hindus went ahead and started a social media campaign using the hashtags #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha and #boycottbollywood because Hindu citizens and those belonging to the Sikh religion were offended by the role of actor Aamir Khan, who portrayed a Sikh soldier from India who had serious mental problems.

#BoycottLaalSinghChaddha

Both the Hindus and the Sikhs saw that Bollywood again wanted to make fun of the most tolerant but this time they went further as it offended the country's military, people who are highly respectable by civilians. Also speaking out on the matter was England cricketer Monty Panesar, who posted on Twitter that Aamir Khan's role is disrespectful to Sikhs and the Indian Army.

Panesar's tweet read: "Forrest Gump fits into the US Army because the US was recruiting men with low IQs to qualify for the Vietnam War! This movie is a total disgrace to the US!" Indian Armed Forces, Indian Army, and Sikhs! Disrespectful. Shameful. #BoycottLalSinghChadda." A hashtag that has been trending in India.

He also wrote, "Aamir plays a jerk in Lal Singh Chaddha...Forrest Gump was a jerk too!! Disrespectful. Disgraceful. #BoycottLalSinghChadda"

#BoycottLalSinghChadda

(The country's newspapers talk about this)

In this way, the film Laal Singh Chaddha has been one of the most unsuccessful in Bollywood that the actor Aamir Khan himself, upon learning of said boycott, asked the public for mercy saying "Please, do not boycott my films, please watch them." He also said "That boycott Bollywood... Boycott Aamir Khan... Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha... I also feel sad because many people who say this in their hearts believe that I am someone who does not like India. ... In their hearts they believe that ... And that is quite untrue," the actor said in an interview.

Although it started as a mere Twitter hashtag, the much-debated Boycott Bollywood trend has proven to be one of the latest victories for Hindus against the ongoing attack on Hindu Dharma. Since the inception of Bollywood, the industry has been based on demeaning Hindus and their faith while glorifying Islam and Islamist invaders, the central character of its films.

As you can see, a call for a public boycott is, in fact, more dangerous than a state ban. This is the power of the people and it is only the beginning.
